A SOMEWHAT COHESIVE COLLABORATION IN MANY SHADES OF GREY

We are currently covering all the walls in the gallery with white paper. We invite you to come to the gallery during our open hours to draw/paint/write in WHITE GREY OR BALCK on our walls. On Friday Feb. 26th we invite you to come back with scissors and cut out parts of the "wall" that you want to take home with you. Everyone's invited!

FEATHE at The Underground of UW-Stout 02/25/2010

The generous members of Feathe who donated their song "Roses" to Gallery 111 for the collaborative fundraising CD "East of the River" are set to perform at the Underground at UW-Stout on Thurs Feb. 25th, 2010 at 8pm with Caroline Smith and the Goodnight Sleeps. The show is Sponsored by Blue Devil Productions.

Below is the Press Release:

Blue Devil Productions is proud to present Caroline Smith & the Good Night Sleeps with Feathe. The artists are scheduled to perform at 8pm on Thursday, February 25th, 2010 in The Underground located on the lower level of the Memorial Student Center at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Indie folk artist Caroline Smith and her ‘Good Night Sleeps’ are dancing around the Minneapolis music scene with bliss. Smiths sophisticated, crispy voice is accompanied by various acoustic instruments and splashed with harmonies creates tunes that make you want to tap your foot and clap your hands. Her traditional lyricism plays true to old time, love, folk ballads. She is the girl that brought her guitar on a camping trip and blew everyone’s mind away when she began to sing around the campfire. If Jenny Lewis (of Rilo Kiely) had a quirky younger cousin her name would be Caroline Smith.

H-A-R-M-O-N-Y is obviously part of the spelling in FEATHE. This local, all female ensemble of three sure knows how to harmonize! Their voices blended together form a creamy mixture of wonderful and delightful folk pop. The accordion used in most of their songs creates a strong ocean wave and sailing on top of that wave is a light guitar ship with beautiful vocal sails. Feathe is one of many bands that are helping the local Chippewa Valley music scene find a spot on the map.

This event is sponsored by Blue Devil Productions of the University of Wisconsin-Stout and is FREE to all. Please call (715) 232-2432 or go to bdp.uwstout.edu for more information.

Ben Teegarden recorded VALLEY session at Gallery 111

From the Valley:

Collaborations between visual art and music seem to be on the rise in our area, with new events popping up every day. Students at UW-Stout have created a venue for this with Gallery 111, a new art space in Menomonie, Wis. Ben Teegarden, who I’ve known from the open mic circuit in Green Bay, has been active in the creation of the gallery, providing tracks for a benefit album and playing at the opening. It made sense, then, to film where he would be comfortable.

The space at Gallery 111 is artistic itself with a large picture window, a beaten wood floor and vast white walls. Ben played three tracks, each adding some instrumentation as we moved to bigger rooms. Artists and collaborators gathered in the main room, awaiting entertainment that would take the stage in the evening and pounding in the final nails needed for preparations.
